As travelers of the world, we care about our planet and believe in creating high-quality products. That’s why every AIMEE LACALLE product is custom made using sustainable practices. In order to reduce the textile industry’s footprint, we’re proud to make choices that keep us at the forefront of sustainable practices.

Our products are designed to be cherished in your household, as opposed to products made, sold, and perhaps quickly discarded without an eye toward their greater impact.

While we hold true to traditional design practices, our digital textile printing process provides more sustainability than past textile production methods, as we are able to produce just what is needed, rather than fabric lots that go unused. We also use a pigment digital ink process rather than a traditional dying process; pigment inks and our ink management system allow us to customize the levels of ink that go into our fabrics, thereby reducing waste and using less ink and material overall. What little fabric we do have left over is always recycled.

We use environmentally friendly water-based inks, which are free of plastics and PVC. Most companies use plastisol inks (a petroleum-based product) because the inks are easy to use, long-lasting, and it is cost-prohibitive to switch ink systems. Unfortunately, plastisol inks can contain heavy metals, PVC, and phthalates that harm the environment and have been associated with some severe health issues. In addition, the cleaning process for plastisol inks calls for the use of petroleum-based chemicals and solvents, which we prefer to avoid at AIMEE LACALLE.

Water-based inks contain no ozone-depleting chemicals such as CFCs and HCFCs, aromatic hydrocarbons, or volatile solvents, and are free of lead and other heavy metals. As such, they are safe for use on intimate apparel items, such as infant clothing, delicates, and swimsuits. As a non-toxic alternative to plastisol inks, water-based inks are also biodegradable, which allows them to be recycled and cleaned using earth-friendly cleaning products.

We’re committed to introducing sustainable practices wherever possible in our operations. We care about the earth and the people we meet on our journeys—especially you, our customer, and your families. Thank you for joining us on the journey of living artfully, intentionally, and inquisitively.
